Aim of the TWG
To incresae journalists’ engagement into environmental and sustainable development issues.
 
Target groups
Journalists, PR and advertising agencies, media-persons of NGOs.
 
Activities:
1.Developing the working group “Environment and Media” as a network.

2.Workshops and trainings for journalists and NGOs.

3.Press-clubs.

4.Project “Raising awareness of environmental issues in EECCA countries” (to assist journalists to cover 5th Ministerial Conference “Environment for Europe”, Kyiv, May, 2003).

5.Seminar for journalists “Genetically modified organisms and biosafety: the most important aspects and media coverage” (April 2004, UNEP-GEF project with a support of British Council in Kyiv).

6.Project “Journalists for sustainability in Carpathians” (2004 - 2005): a number of press-tours, publications, CD.

7.Сreating of international communication system for implementation of the Carpathian Convention (since 2005, projects by CERI (Carpathian Eco-Region Initiative), British Council, ANPED)

8.News digest "Business and Environment" (2005 – 2006).

9.Press-tour to Polissya natural reserved areas, UNDP - GEF program (November, 2006).

10.«Environmental investigation in combating corruption” (since 2007): trainings, press-clubs, monitoring of mass media on specific issues, consulting, sending for the network members a digest of information and consultations, producing a handbook “Journalist investigation on environmental issues” (program “Promoting Active Citizen Engagement (ACTION) in Combating Corruption in Ukraine” supported by USAID, MCC and MSI).

Currently in TWG are active about 50 members.
